In just two nights of relentless rain, calm rivers turned into raging torrents. On August 26–27, monsoon storms swept across Punjab, unleashing floods that swallowed homes, roads, and livelihoods without warning.
Villages stand underwater. Families cling to rooftops. Bridges and schools have crumbled. And the silence is pierced only by the cries of those searching for their loved ones, lost beneath the rushing waters.
Swollen rivers like the Beas, Sutlej, and Ravi have breached embankments, submerging entire districts. Thousands of people have been forced to leave behind everything — their land, their livestock, their homes.
Beyond Numbers: Lives Washed Away
These aren’t just statistics. They are stories of survival and heartbreak.
It’s Ramesh, who ran with his family as the floodwater roared in: “We lost everything – our home is gone.”
It’s the mother in Pathankot, now sheltering her children under a tarpaulin, waiting for the rain to stop so they can sleep without fear.
It’s the farmer from Gurdaspur who watched years of toil disappear under muddy water, along with his cattle and his only source of livelihood.
The small shops, the tea stalls, the farms that fed families — all lie ruined. Lifetimes of work washed away in a matter of hours.
This Is Not Just Punjab’s Tragedy
This is a human tragedy. And when humanity suffers, our response must be urgent and strong.

From the moment the floods struck, Harsh Chhikara Jan Sewa Trust has been on the ground — moving through submerged villages, broken roads, and relentless rain to reach those in need.

- – Providing emergency medical care to the injured and sick
- – Delivering shelter kits with tarpaulins and blankets
- – Supplying animal feed and rescuing stranded livestock
- – Offering comfort and emotional support to families who have lost everything
But the destruction is massive, and what we have is not enough. Each passing hour without help means another child goes to sleep hungry, another wound worsens, another family loses hope.
